Leadership is about results. Results come through people. My work focuses on how leaders think, communicate, relate to others, and translate their intentions into action. Clarity in these areas strengthens judgment, builds trust, and creates the conditions for people and organizations to perform at their best.

At Alvarado Advisory Group, I work with senior executives and accomplished professionals who carry significant responsibility and influence. They come from business, the professions, and mission-driven organizations, often facing consequential decisions, complex relationships, growth, transition, or the next chapter of their leadership and lives. Every situation is different. My role is to bring experience, perspective, and thoughtful challenge to help people see more clearly and determine what comes next.

I built a 33-year career with the organization that became Accenture, including serving as Global Chief Operating Officer for two major business units. During those years, I led large-scale transformations and worked with organizations ranging from emerging companies to global enterprises across multiple industries. Based at different times in the United States and Europe, my work took me across cultures and geographies and gave me the opportunity to lead and work with people throughout much of the world.

Those experiences taught me that strategy, operations, and human dynamics are deeply connected. The quality of a decision matters. So does the way it is communicated, how people experience the leader making it, and whether they have the trust and confidence to act on it.

My approach today draws on three disciplines: Energetic Mechanics™, metacognition, and the psychology of business. I think of them as complementary lenses for understanding leadership. They help us become more aware of what we transmit through our words, presence, and behavior; observe our own thinking and reactions with greater clarity; and understand the human forces that shape relationships and organizational performance.

I grew up in Panama and came to the United States for college. I earned a degree in Chemical and Petroleum Refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Purdue University. My career eventually took me from the United States to Europe and many other parts of the world. Living and working across cultures profoundly shaped how I understand people, relationships, leadership, and the importance of seeing situations from more than one perspective.

Over time, my interest in leadership has increasingly become an interest in people. How do we understand ourselves more clearly? How do we recognize what another person may become? How do we communicate in ways that build trust? How do we know when to act, when to listen, and when to create space for someone else?

That curiosity also expanded beyond business. I founded A Thousand Joys and have spent many years in nonprofit leadership supporting organizations focused on children, families, resilience, and human development. Service has become an important part of how I think about leadership, contribution, and what we can give to the communities around us.

Today, I advise, coach, mentor, and write. Across each of these activities, the underlying idea is similar: greater awareness creates greater choice. When we understand ourselves, others, and the circumstances around us more clearly, we are better able to lead with intention and shape what happens next.
